Hackley School
Congratulations to our Middle School scientists, who represented Hackley with creativity, perseverance and outstanding scientific thinking at this year’s Westchester Regional Middle School Science and Engineering Fair!
All four participants placed in the top three of their categories (pictured left to right with Science Department Chair Melissa Boviero at center):
- Fiona Y. ’31, second place in Microbiology;
- Amy C. ’31, second place in Animal and Plant Science;
- Brilant M. ’32, third place in Engineering, Computers and Robotics; and
- Akash K. ’31, first place in Engineering, Computers and Robotics.
Brilant also received the Lemelson Junior Innovator Award, a special recognition honoring projects that create innovative solutions to improve lives. And Akash was not only nominated for the Thermo Fisher Junior Innovators Challenge, but also earned the fair’s highest honor: Best of Show! He will advance to the national competition.
We are so proud of all of our student scientists, whose projects reflected curiosity, resilience, creativity and a true commitment to the scientific process. More importantly, they represented themselves and Hackley with tremendous enthusiasm, kindness and professionalism throughout the event.
