    Hackley School seeks to recruit, hire, train, and support a small cohort of talented early career educators to be Teaching Fellows.  

    The ideal candidate is an aspiring educator with a demonstrated interest in teaching and working with students, while also helping to broaden the experiences, perspectives, and identities present within Hackley’s faculty.  A college degree, not necessarily in education, is required.  This program would also be appropriate for early career professionals looking to change fields and gain experience in education prior to seeking a full-time role.

    Hackley School seeks a dynamic, experienced and dedicated full-time Middle/Upper School Teacher of Chinese for the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in modern language learning. Fluency in Chinese, experience teaching Chinese,  and ease with appropriate pedagogical approaches for teaching modern languages to middle and upper school students is a must. The ability to teach French or Spanish at the middle school level is also desirable.

  • Registrar

    Hackley School is searching for its next Registrar to start in January 2023. The Registrar manages the academic record-keeping of the school, including all student records and course data. The Registrar partners with the Director of Academic Affairs and Division Directors on the school schedule, with Department Chairs on assigning course sections and rosters, with K-12 teachers on the entry of grades and comments, and with the College Counseling Office on preparing transcripts.

  • On-Call Substitute Teacher

    Hackley School seeks to hire on-call substitute teachers for 2022-2023 with relevant experience in all appropriate academic subjects for each of its divisions: Lower School (K-4), Middle School (5-8), Upper School (9-12). “On-call” substitute teachers can be available on occasion and as needs arise. This role provides early-career educators a great opportunity to learn more about independent schools, while also picking up valuable teaching experience. Hackley is a nonsectarian coeducational K-12 independent school located in Tarrytown, NY, 20 miles north of New York City on the Hudson River. Founded as a boarding school in 1899, Hackley enrolls around 840 students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 12, including approximately 30 five-day boarding students in Grades 9 -12. With over 40% of our faculty residing in school housing, Hackley combines the community cohesion of a boarding school with the stimulation of a day school, all in close proximity to one of the great cities of the world.
