The Hackley Girls Basketball Team reeled off three wins in the last week beating Dalton, Poly Prep and Rye Country Day School to raise their early season record to 5-1.
Two Hackley football players have been honored as LoHud Golden Dozen recipients--outstanding football players in Westchester County who have also done well in the classroom--for the 2018 season.
Jim Reilly '66, Hackley's most prominent football alumnus, arrived on the Hilltop in 1961 and excelled at sports winning numerous track awards. He was named captain of the football team his senior year. After graduating, Jim was a starting offensive tackle at the University of Notre Dame, where he played from 1966 to 1970. While at Notre Dame, he was named to the Kodak All-American team and to the College Sports Information Directors All-American team.
The Girls Basketball team had a very exciting start to the 2018-19 season bringing home a second consecutive first place finish in the Dan D. Memorial basketball tourney on the Hilltop on Saturday, 12/1.

Hackley Boys Varsity Soccer came into the 2018 with high expectations and plenty of experience, and the team achieved historic milestones despite falling short of their highest goals.
The Hackley Cross-Country Team had another great season, with 54 dedicated runners contributing to the team's succcess and exceptional leadership from captains Olivia Curran, Anastasia Popova, William Crainer, and Thomas Dewey.
The Varsity Field Hockey Team had another successful season, winning the Ivy League Championship for the fifth straight season and for the sixth time in the past seven seasons.
HGVT emphasized playing with passion and determination, reflecting on their play after each match, using smart strategy to give themselves the best chance of competing on each point, and finished with an 8-5 record and lost a super close semi-final match (2-3) to the eventual Ivy League champions, Horace Mann.
On November 5, approximately 75 girls in grades four through nine joined former Olympian Rebecca Lobo and the Hackley Girls basketball coaching staff and varsity team for high powered clinic enjoyed by all.

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team earned a statement victory 3-2 over three-peat Ivy League champions Riverdale, winning for the first time in six years on the infamous Riverdale field.
Welyn Waterhouse '23 was recognized as Lohud Player of the Day for her performance in Hackley Girls Varsity Soccer's 8-0 win over Masters on September 12.

On August 22nd, members of the 2017-2018 swim team came to the Johnson Center for "First Splash," an event to celebrate our swimmers and the completion of the pool. LiliAnna Khosrowshahi ’18 and Leah Holmes ’20, members of Hackley's Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, were recently named All Americans in Girls Lacrosse. Congratulations to both athletes, and to their coach, Jenny Leffler -- this is the first time two of Coach Leffler's players have been named All American in the same year!

Hackley Girls Tracks and Field finished 3rd overall at the NYSAIS championship meet on 5/23, with Kiara Abbey earning an individual championship in the triple jump and many athletes delivering personal bests in their events. Boys Track and Field finished 7th overall, recording a number of personal records as well.
Hackley Softball made its first appearance in the NYSAIS championship game since 2001. While the team came up short in their quest for the championship, the girls played very well and are excited for next year, with much of the team returning.

Ismene Germanakos ’19 broke the school record in the Javelin throw by over 16 feet on Tuesday, April 17th at the Ivy Meet. She threw a record breaking 108’5" besting the previous mark held by Sarah Johnston ’05 who threw 91' 6". The throw also qualified Ismene for the Emerging Elite at High School Nationals. Ismene is an impressive three sport athlete for Hackley playing soccer, basketball and competing in track and field. Congratulations on a great throw.
Throughout the storied success of the Hackley Girls’ Lacrosse program, only two athletes have past the coveted 200 goal mark in their career on the Hilltop -- Sammy Mueller ’16 (289 goals) and Trish Gorman ’12 (232). This year, senior LiliAnna Khosrowshahi joined this elite group when she tallied her 200th goal in the team's recent win over last year’s State Champion, Holy Child. Read on.

After the first week of the winter season the Hackley swim teams quickly realized the potential they would have this year. With a large group of seniors retuning form last year there was no doubt the teams had their eyes set on great accomplishment.
The Boys Basketball Team had a solid season of growth and development. The season had many similarities to seasons in the past for Hackley Hornets where the boys fought hard at times and made some exciting plays worthy of ESPN Sports Center but also struggled through some adversity.
The 2017/18 Boys Varsity Squash team entered this winter coming off a dream season last year when we won the 2017 Ivy League title. With several high level players from last year’s team now playing squash collegiately; it was an opportunity for our team to give some younger guys more competitive experience in matches.
The Hackley Boys’ Winter Track team enjoyed a strong season of training and competition. In addition to adding many new participants, the team performed well individually and collectively.
The Hackley Girls Basketball Team ended up with a final record of 12-12, which included a trip back to the state tournament and a win in the first round before losing to this year’s state champion, Dalton.
The Hackley Girls’ Winter Track Team had a strong season of building fitness and competition results, led by captains Bridget Barsanti ’18 and Julia Stewart-Wood ’18 and interim captain Carolyn Santangelo ‘18.
The Hackley Fencing Teams had an excellent season with five of six squads medaling in the ISFL final season standings, and capturing nine individual medals.
The Hackley Wrestling Team exceeded all expectation driven by experienced leadership and an influx of talented and hardworking newcomers. The team came together as a group and delivered exceptional results throughout the season.
Three Hackley wrestlers competed in the Inaugural NYS Wrestling Federation Championships. This tournament is touted as one of the most grueling in the country, in which the best wrestlers from all public, private and Catholic Schools in New York State compete.
At the February 22 NYSAIS Indoor Track Championships at the Armory, Onye Ohia-Enyia '18, Jasmyn Phillips '21, and Kiara Abbey '21 crowned NYSAIS champions in their respective events, joined by other Hackley athletes with great performances in their events. Four Hackley athletes qualified for statewide competition at the Federation meet, and both the boys' and girls' teams finished fourth overall. Read on for details.
Hackley Girls Varsity Basketball brought in an impressive win at Portledge to advance to the quarterfinal round of the NYSAIS tournament. Leading 12-6 at the end of the first quarter, Hackley built that lead to 32-23 at the half, and 44-28 at the end of the third quarter, finishing the game with a score of 55-42. The team plays Dalton away tonight, 2/22, at 5:00 PM. Go Hack!

The Hackley Wrestling Team captured two titles at the annual NYSAIS championship meet this past Saturday at Long Island Lutheran High School. Hackley swimmers delivered a strong performances at the Ivy League Championship meet on February 6th at Lehman College. The boys' team finished second, 85 points ahead of the third place Fieldston team and within shouting distance of the first place Trinity team. Hackley Girls Swimming finished the team event in 4th place. Both girls and boys teams brought in spectacular individual and relay performances, with new records set. Great job all around! Hackley Wrestling crowned four Ivy League champions en route to a second place team finish at the Ivy championships this past weekend. Robert Horan ’21 (99lbs), Tyler Wyman ’21 (106lbs), Jack Bosco ’20 (113lbs) and Giovanni Crispi ’18 (182lbs) were all conference champions in their respective weight classes. For their championship efforts they were also recognized as Hackley Athletes of the Week (AOW). Other strong performances include Lara Schechter ’21 who captured third place. Great job team!

Congratulations to Robert Horan (99lbs) who took 1st place at the Hendrick Hudson Wrestling Tournament. Robby went 4-0 on the day with 4 pins, in wins against John Jay, Hendrick Hudson, Putnam Valley and Somers. Robert is currently 15-2 on the season with 18 takedowns and 12 pins.
Veteran Hackley swim coach John Gillard continues to marvel at the strength and depth of this year's Hackley swim team. In a recent meet against powerhouse Brunswick (Boys) and Greenwich Academy (Girls) where eight pool records were established, Coach Gillard stated "I have never seen a faster high school meet."
