Athletes of the Week – Week of Sept. 15

Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.

Girls’ Soccer: Annika Duggan ’26
Annika accumulated 24 saves in the last three games, allowing only one goal. She made incredibly athletic saves in the games against Poly and Trinity to help secure the overtime win against Trinity and to keep the shutout against Poly.

Football: Logan Wissner ’27
Logan had an incredible day on both sides of the ball last week in a 35-0 win over Dalton. On offense, he threw for two touchdowns, one from 12 yards out and one from 32 yards. On defense, he had two interceptions and four tackles in 2.5 quarters of play. The double threat athlete has stepped up in a major way for the Hornets, moving to both sides of the ball this year.

Field Hockey: Calliope Yannuzzi ’26
This Senior captain has been instrumental in two shutouts this season. Playing on the defensive side of the field, her tenacity and skill have been a major part of the team’s early season success.

Cross Country: Macey McLane ’26
Macey led the girls’ cross country team to a second-place team finish at the Somers Big Red Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13. Her time of 19:29 on the 5k course earned her a second-place individual finish in the Division 3 race and was the third-fastest time overall among 258 girls’ team runners at the meet. Congratulations to Macey for an impressive season debut.

Cross Country: Ace Perez ’27
Ace scored for the boys’ cross country team for the first time at the Somers Big Red Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13. His time of 21:01 was fourth on the team and helped the boys to a fifth place finish in the Division 3 race. Congratulations to Ace for taking such a big step forward in his running.
