Oshon Temple Named to Endowed Chair
Congratulations to Oshon Temple, who has been chosen as the next holder of the Caputo Family Chair, succeeding Merideth Maddox as she rotates out at the end of the 2016-17 school year.
Oshon is finishing his tenth year at Hackley teaching math in the Middle School. Humble, helpful, and reflective about his teaching practices, Oshon is warmly regarded by colleagues and students alike. He has high standards for his students and marries these qualities with a supportive mindset. In the nomination process, a colleague wrote the following:
Oshon arrives each day with a smile, a greeting for all, and thoughtful purpose on his mind. He is devoted to student learning and respect among peers, counseling students in their hallway interactions, while instilling a love in math through his humor, patience and singing ability. He readily engages in cooperative discussions with his colleagues on student and school issues, actively listening and looking for the win-win solution.
Faculty chairholders are nominated for this recognition by their colleagues, a process that affirms the strength of our faculty and the dedication and talent present in our classrooms on a daily basis.
