On West Point and the Civil War
On Thursday, April 13th, the 4th graders visited the West Point Military Academy in conjunction with our studies of the Civil War. To help prepare for our visit, Mr. Kevin Kearns, P ‘24 and P ’22, visited the Lower School on April 10th.
Mr. Kearns is a West Point graduate and during the visit to the LS, he shared information about the daily life as a cadet and answered several questions from the 4th graders. Mr. Kearns displayed items such as his former cadet uniforms. In addition, Mr. Kearns was able to secure access for the students to see the cadet Mess Hall, view the formation before lunch and arranged for a current cadet to speak to the 4th graders during our visit to West Point.
