Three Hackley Teams Earn League Titles

What started as just another Tuesday yesterday ended with three Hackley athletics programs coming home with league titles. Congratulations to our Girls’ Lacrosse, Boys’ Golf and Boys’ Lacrosse, which claimed the league’s top prizes with victories.
In addition, four Hackley teams received bids to compete in the NYSAIS championships to represent Hackley in state-level competition.

Hackley Varsity Baseball team has received the number three seed in the 2017 NYSAIS Baseball Championships. The team has played and performed in an impeccable manner and through adversity to receive this high bid. The coaches and players deserve a round of applause. Their opening round game will be at Hackley on Saturday at 11AM.

Coaches Jenny Leffler and Melissa Stanek ’90 have done an incredible job again this year in supporting members of the Girls’ Lacrosse program in reaching their full potential on the field. HGVL has gone undefeated for six straight years in the Ivy League. The team and coaches exhibit class and poise, earning wide respect as one of the best programs in the area. As the number two seed in the NYSAIS tournament, the team will host the first round game at home vs. Chapin School on Saturday at 11:00 AM.

The Boys’ Lacrosse team came from two goals down with just under six minutes remaining in their game yesterday to win in overtime. In doing so, they claimed a share of the Ivy League title. Their 9-1 record in the league is a great accomplishment, particularly given that the team played with 5-6 players injured the entire season. The boys’ persevered in times of doubt which shows their true colors. They received the 3 seed to the NYSAIS tournament and will play Horace Mann at Hackley on Saturday at 10:00 AM.

Boys’ Golf also locked up a league championship yesterday. Their 9-0 win over Collegiate has given them an undefeated 14-0 record to date with three matches remaining. Coach Hasslinger and his team are ranked as one of the best teams in the area and look forward to finishing out the regular season.

Hackley Softball also received a bid to compete in the NYSAIS Tournament. They received the seven seed and will have a play in game on Friday against Convent of the Sacred Heart, NYC at 3:30 PM on the Hilltop.

Also this weekend, the Track and Field team will compete at Icahn Stadium this Sunday at 4:30 PM for the Ivy League Championships.

Congratulations and good luck to all our coaches and athletes!
