Hackley Campus Notification System
Learn how to enroll for Campus notifications, including weather-related delays/closure updates.
Hackley notifies families of weather-related changes or cancellations using several tools:
1. Message recorded on school voice mail at (914) 366-2600.
2. Message on Hackley website homepage (www.hackleyschool.org)
3. Automated phone call (“Robocall”) via the emergency alert system (see below for enrollment instructions).
4. Text message as well as a call via the emergency alert system to all registered mobile numbers.
5. Email via the emergency alert system.
6. Through the following local media:
Lohud,
WHUD,
WFAS,
Channel 12, WVOX radio, WCBS-TV.
The Campus Notification system may also be employed if a situation (eg., campus lock down) requires immediate community notification.
HOW TO ENROLL FOR PHONE CALLS- To receive the automated phone call via the emergency alert system:
- Sign in to HOL, click your name at top right, and select “Profile.”
- Scroll down to the" Emergency Contacts" section, and click “Manage” next to “Phone.”
- Then, drag the phone numbers you want called from the right column to the left column.
- You may also add additional numbers to call if need be. The system can call your home phone, your cell phone, your business phone, or all of the above as you prefer.
- Then, make sure the box next to each number is set to "Every Time" or "Emergency," (we do not differentiate between these), not "Never."
- Click "Save."
HOW TO ENROLL FOR EMAIL NOTIFICATION
To enroll to receive an email message regarding changes to the school schedule, scroll down to "Emergency Contacts" and click “manage” next to “Email.” As above, drag and drop email addresses at which you wish to receive the notices from the right column to the left. If you need to add email addresses, you may do so. Click "Save."
NOTE: This email system will replace the old “pushpage” system for morning weather notifications. All families who wish to receive an email notification must add their email to the “emergency contact” system by following the steps above.
HOW TO ENROLL FOR TEXT NOTIFICATIONS
The system will automatically send a text message to your mobile phone if you include it among your call options. If you would like to receive text notifications, be sure to include your mobile phone in your calling options. Note that the system will both TEXT and CALL each mobile number – it is not possible to opt for either text or call. Your mobile will receive both a call and a text. However, as noted below, if you leave your phone on silent at night, you can check your text message when you wake and do not need to listen to the phone message.
WHAT NUMBERS SHOULD YOU ADD?
You may add whatever numbers you feel will be useful to your family. However, please note that the “emergency contacts” section of HOL is ONLY USED for campus notifications such as weather related school closures. This is NOT the place to list contact information for people to contact if your child is ill. Trust us…your friend, neighbor or mother-in-law who is on call to help take care of your child will not be happy to receive a call regarding a snow day at Hackley at 5:45 AM!
WHAT IF YOU DON’T WANT THE PHONE RINGING AT ALL, WAKING THE WHOLE HOUSE?
You might decide to only include your cell phone number as the number to call, and leave it on "silent" or "vibrate' overnight. That way, you can check messages when you wake up and the kids will stay asleep. Or, you can include just an email address and no phone number so you will be notified only by email.
Please note that changes to one parent’s preferences do not affect the other parent’s settings – be sure both parents check their settings!
