Hackley Athletes Set New Records
Hackley School is proud to announce that three major records fell this past week in the sport of field hockey and football. Congratulations to Jenny Canoni '20, Will Waterhouse '18, and Karina Bridger '19 for outstanding accomplishments this season (read on).
Jenny Canoni ’20, Varsity Field Hockey, made her 300th career save in field hockey at the goal keeper position. Prior to the semi-final round of the NYSAIS tournament, Jenny’s total was at 319. This surpasses the mark set by Elizabeth Lax ‘01 who had 299 career saves on the Hilltop. Jenny has been a major factor in the team’s success winning back to back Ivy Championships.
Will Waterhouse '18, Varsity Football, needed 131 yards to surpass Jelani Doemans ‘08 mark of 1,207 yards to break his single season rushing record. Will rushed for 195 yards to put his season total at 1271 in a convincing 38-24 win over Fieldston that also gave the Hornets their second consecutive Metropolitan Independent Football League championship. Will's career on the Hilltop in rushing is at 1952 yards in two seasons and 30 rushing touchdowns.
Karina Bridger '19, Varsity Field Hockey, broke the career goals mark this week scoring her 47th as she surpassed Ariel Stern ’16’s mark of 42 career goals. Going into Friday’s NYSAIS semi-finals and with still another year left in her career on the Hilltop, Karina was just three points away from breaking Ally Petitti ’16’s career points record of 108.
