Great Finish to the Hackley XC Season

After a successful Ivy Prep Championship nine days earlier, Hackley Cross Country delivered outstanding results at the 2017 NYSAIS XC Championship.
Hackley boys' XC finished third out of a competitive field of 20 teams, beating fourth-place Poly Prep by a close four points. Freshman Jonah Gorevic finished third out of a field of 187, qualifying for the New York Federation Championships. William Crainer ran a superb race with a 12th place finish, while the following runners -- Matthew Dioguardi, Brendan DiStefano, and Fletcher Levin -- all finished in the top 30. This finish caps the boys' XC program's most successful season in decades, including a third-place finish at the Brown Northeast Invitational in Rhode Island and a third-place finish at the Ivy Prep Championship.

Hackley girls' XC also posted a successful day at NYSAIS, finishing fourth out of 17 teams. Led by 10th-place Olivia Curran, who spent most of the season sidelined due to injury, the team saw another medalist in senior captain Caroline Stevenson (11th place). Also scoring for Hackley were Eve Spencer, Frances Schaeffler, and Julia Stewart-Wood.

In addition to Jonah Gorevic, who will be competing at the state meet, a few Hackley runners will continue to Nike Cross Regionals on November 25th.
