K-12 Unite to Clean the Trails
For the second year in a row, Hackley’s Trail Clean Up Marathon was a fantastic success. During the week following Thanksgiving break, students of all ages – from kindergarteners to seniors – collaborated to clear and beautiful the Carl Buessow Nature Trails. More...
High school students mentored kindergarteners in clearing leaves while exploring the trails, and 4th and 7th graders teamed up to rake the ground and line trail edges with fresh branches and logs. The AFER class even went out to our brand new camping platforms, constructed by 3 senior boys class of 2017 as their senior project, to clear the surrounding area of fallen brush. This work not only prepared the nature trails for use throughout the winter and spring, but allowed students time to simply enjoy a refreshing hike through our beautiful woods.
