Boys' Varsity Soccer Improves to 6-0 with a Comfortable Win Over RCDS

The Hackley Boys' Varsity Soccer Team stayed undefeated with a resounding 6-0 win over area rival Rye Country Day School. Rye handed Hackley its worst loss of the 2021 season, when the Hornets fell 5-0.

It was a beautiful fall day on the Hilltop and another challenge for the Hornets. Training has been solid and the team seems to be improving with each outing. But this game saw the Hornets put together their best performance of the year, not just on the scoreboard but in terms of technical and tactical play.

It was a dominating performance from the get-go, with senior Dan Paridis opening the scoring less than two minutes into the game when he banged home a neat little cross from JT Goswami '23, reminiscent of a finishing drill practiced in the days leading up to the game. Dan added a second goal 12 minutes in on a nice early feed from Matt Gluckman '25. Andrew Carpenito '26 got his first goal as a Hornet nine minutes later to pad the lead at the half, 3-0.
JT got in on the action early in the second half with an assist from Dan. Michael Abbey '23 continued the goal parade with two more goals late in the second half to complete the dominating performance. John Churchill '23 and Tyler Gandelman '24 combined for the clean sheet in goal, while the backline of Fritz Lauerwald '23 and Cole Joseph '23, along with Caleb Bae '24 and Jack Perlman '25 were rock solid.
Next up the Hornets return to league play with a test at Fieldston on their Homecoming Day.
