ISRP Senior Vivek Malik Chosen as Finalist in Regeneron Science Talent Search
Vivek Malik ’25 was chosen as one of 40 finalists in the prestigious Regeneron Science Talent Search for his research project, “Novel characterization of Plexin D1’s role in regulating the macrophage immune response”!
As a finalist in the 84th annual Regeneron Science Talent Search, Vivek was invited to Washington, D.C. from March 6 to 12 to present
his research project. The week-long event included three days of intense interviews from scientists asking questions from every realm of science, engineering and math. In addition, Vivek had the chance to speak with Regeneron STS alumni, Regeneron scientists and Rep. George Latimer (NY-16). He also visited HHMI’s Janelia’s Research Campus.
Back in November, three of Hackley’s Independent Science Research Program seniors, Alicia Zhu, Rafael Castro and Vivek Malik, joined more than 2,000 students nationwide to submit their individual research projects to the Regeneron Science Talent Search. On Jan. 8, Vivek was named a “Top 300 Scholar” for his work in understanding the immune system.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math research competition for high school seniors.
