Nearly 500 Gather at Goodhue Gala and More than $1.3 Million Raised - $2 Million Challenge Gift Announced
On Saturday, April 25, nearly 500 parents, alumni, faculty and staff gathered at Hackley’s Goodhue Gala, a benefit primarily in support of Goodhue Memorial Hall. It was an historic evening for our school and a testament to the commitment and generosity of our community. We are especially grateful to our hosts, the HPA and the Alumni Association, Gala co-chairs Suzanne Augustin ’81 and Carolyn Barg, auction co-chairs Daniela Crispi and Linda Holden-Bryant and the many other volunteers.

The Gala netted $1,321,149 that will support two purposes: the rebuilding of Goodhue Memorial Hall ($1,206,419) and this year’s HPA programs ($115,000). In addition, we were able to make a very exciting announcement at the Gala. Trustee Sy Sternberg P ’04 and his wife Laurie have issued a philanthropic challenge. If Hackley raises $5 million for Goodhue the Sternbergs will donate $2 million, enabling us to achieve our goal of $7 million, which will fund the gap between our anticipated insurance proceeds and the cost of our adding 8,660 square feet of additional space to Goodhue.
Trustees Lisa Heffernan and John Torell ’80 are co-chairing our Goodhue Initiative. To make a gift that will bring us closer to realizing the Sternberg Challenge,
you may do so online . If you would like to discuss your support or learn more about Goodhue including opportunities to name classrooms, offices and other spaces,
please contact John Gannon, Director of Capital Gifts, at jgannon@hackleyschool.org or 914-366-2654
In supporting Goodhue, alumni strengthen their alma mater and parents offer their children an inspiring example of investment in education. At a time when many schools are limiting their investment in the future, Hackley’s community is recreating and improving an essential resource that will be used and enjoyed by every student who graduates from Hackley.
