For the second year in a row, the Dial has received Gold Medal status from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Scholastic News Print Critique. The critique, performed by experienced adviser-judges and CSPA staff, evaluates school publications according to sound journalistic principles. There are three categories for point awards. Essentials includes both elements and coverage—"all the information that makes the newspaper reader-friendly and the coverage it contains." The Verbal category awards points for "the approach taken, substantive quotes and correct style and mechanics," according to the CSPA. Category three, Visual, awards points for design and photography. CSPA notes, "Images should flow from page to page so that a the individual photos and copy blocks can be viewed and read without distraction." We are very excited that CSPA recognizes the accomplishments of the entire Dial staff and especially that hard work of Editor-in-Chief Randi Kramer ‘12. - - Jennie Lyons, faculty advisor to The Dial
