MS Volunteers at Westchester’s Food Bank

On the morning of Sunday, January 8th, a group of 10 students, along with Mrs. Louros and four parent volunteers, volunteered at the Food Bank of Westchester in Elmsford. The students packaged hundreds of bags of produce for the Senior Citizen Grocery Program throughout the county.
Each bag was filled with a few pounds of vegetables and fruit including: potatoes, onions, carrots, string beans, clementines and apples. The students had a blast filling up these bags and watching to see how many boxes they were able to fill up in the allotted time we were there.

After the produce distribution, the students also received a tour of the Food Bank and were amazed by how many boxes of food are distributed to schools, homes, organizations and other agencies throughout Westchester County! It was a very rewarding experience for all involved to know that their “helping hands” aided in feeding others in need our community.
