Hackley Junior Selected as Student Ambassador

Fletcher Levin '18, a Chinese language student since 6th grade, has been selected to serve as a Student Ambassador for US-China Strong during the 2016 – 2017 school year, representing the organization launched by President Obama’s 100,000 Strong Initiative to help encourage young Americans to pursue China-related studies or careers.
Fletcher successfully completed a Chinese immersion program in Beijing this past summer managed by the China Institute, which was founded in 1926 and is the oldest US-China cultural and education exchange organization in the U.S. The China Institute, as sponsoring organization of US-China Strong, nominated Fletcher to be an ambassador.

Student Ambassadors participate in US-China events, are active on social media, visit local schools and civic organizations to share their Mandarin or China study abroad experiences, and help connect the US-China Strong local outreach activities.

As part of his role as ambassador, Fletcher has completed a formal presentation to fellow Hackley students on the importance of studying Chinese, will create an on line publication or blog on Chinese studies, and develop and teach a class plan for Chinese for Hackley Lower School students later this year.
