Terrapin, Opossum and other Critters

On Wednesday, 1/11/17 the Advanced Forest Ecology Research class had an adventure at the Teatown Lake Reservation Nature Preserve and Education Center. The weather warmed up briefly for students so there was fun to be had both inside and outside. Both classes first took a hike in the woods where they looked for signs of life.
They found many signs of squirrels, birds and deer. While there, students took a class on the Hudson Valley Wildlife. They learned about the habits and habitats of all kinds of critters. The most favorite were the Diamond Back Terrapin, Red Tailed Hawk and the Opossum.

Students ended the day with a 2 mile hike around the lake. Chris Wahrhaftig said "The trip was very fun and I learned a lot of interesting facts I never would have known without going on the trip!"
