Hackley Boys Track & Field 2017
The Hackley Boys Track & Field season culminated in the team's 9th consecutive NYSIASA championship.
The boys were led by seniors William Balentine, Craig Johnson, Amin Mustefa, Justin Forstmann and junior MVP Onye Ohia- Enyia. This group combined to set a school record in the SMR at the Somers Invitational and then secured the NYSAISAA championship by winning the 1600m relay in a new meet record of 3.25.05. Onye broke his own existing 400m record, set in his win at the New York Relays, with a time of 47.75 and became Ivy & NYSAISAA champion in both the 200m and 400m. In the field events senior Jordan Schwartz was crowned Ivy and NYSAISAA champion in the pole vault and Matt Dioguardi excelled in discus, pole vault and shot put. The distance team were led by senior Alex Popov and bolstered by the addition of 8th grade sensation Jonah Gorevic who ran a personal best of 10.15 in the 3200m. Despite the absence of senior captain Winston Britton for the second half of the season the Boys team demonstrated incredible determination to pull together and capture the NYSAISAA title by a mere ½ point over Rye Country Day
