Athletes of the Week, Week of 10/16
Leah Holmes ‘20 and Maggie Broaddus’ 20, Javon Coleman ’18, Eve Spencer ’22 and Carter Myers ’20 earned Athlete of the Week honors for the week of October 16 in recognition of outstanding performances with their respective teams. Read on for details.
The Girls Tennis second doubles team of
Leah Holmes ‘20 and
Maggie Broaddus’ 20 have been an unstoppable force this season in the Ivy League. They have not lost a league match since their first contest of the season, and recently avenged that one loss to Trinity by beating them in a close three set match! In addition, they defeated the previously undefeated second doubles team of Horace Mann this past weekend. Congrats to this incredible doubles team!
Varsity Football player Javon Coleman ’18 has been a mainstay in the Hackley backfield this season. In his game against Morristown Beard, Javon rushed for 147 yards scoring two TD as well as passing for 47 yards.
Eve Spencer ‘22, an eighth grader and varsity runner, helped the Girls Cross Country Team to a 6th place finish out of 21 teams at the Northeast Cross Country Invitational last weekend. Eve ran a personal record of 19:36.8, lowering her time by over a minute on her previous personal best set at the Brewster Bear Invitational only two weeks ago. Eve is a dedicated runner with many more years of cross country success ahead of her.
Boys Cross Country runner Carter Myers ‘20 has been the consummate devotee to the Cross Country team this season. His hard work, dedication and love for the team has earned him this AOW award. He most recently dropped his personal record for a 5K race by over four minutes this season while continuing to support everyone else--a true sign of his character and work ethic.
