Inaugural HEAL/AFER Nature Hike
On Wednesday, November 1, HEAL (Hackley Earth Action League) and AFER (Advanced Forest Ecology Research) co-sponsored their first guided nature hike, with juniors Will Crainer, Catherine Marshall, and Jack Kneisley leading a hike to the Carl Buessow Nature Trails. (Read on...)
The leaders taught students and faculty about Carl Buessow, the deer exclusion zone, and the salamander study. They also invited participants to try the winter green flavored black birch and smell the fruit loops leaves of the sassafras. They found beech drops and Japanese barberry. Thanks to everyone who came. The next guided nature hike will be November 13th, third period, led by Will Waterhouse, Bobby Hite, and Liam Bogart.
