Fall Season Update: X-Country

Under the leadership of a dozen Hackley seniors, and coaches Seth Karpinski, Dawn Crainer and Leila Braun, the cross country team experienced another great season of Invitationals including a Girls division three win and Boys 5th place finish at Somers. At the Brown Invitational the Boys came in 3rd out of 25 teams while the Girls took home 6th out of 21 teams.
At the Ivy League and NYSAIS Championships 1st Team All-Ivy runners, Caroline Stevenson ’18 and Eve Spencer ‘22, led the girls to a third place finish (60 points) just behind winner Trinity (49 points), and runner-up Poly Prep (50 points).

On the boys' side, All-Ivy runners Jonah Gorevic ‘21 and Matthew Dioguardi ‘18 led the boys to a third place finish (72 points) just behind winner Trinity (48 points) and runner-up, Collegiate (71 points).

At the NYSAIS Championships, the girls' team placed 4th as a team with Olivia Curran ’19 in 10th and Caroline Stevenson in 11th place. The boys grabbed 3rd place as a team with Jonah Gorevic in 3rd, William Crainer ’19 in 12th, Matthew Dioguardi in 22nd, Brendan DiStefano ’22 in 24th and Fletcher Levin ’18 in 28th out of a field of 187 runners.

With his third place individual finish, Jonah will represent the NYSAIS schools in the upcoming NYS Federation meet at Bowdoin Park on November 18th.
