Athletes of the Week – Week of Sept. 8

Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.

Girls’ Soccer: Lucia Marucci ’27

Lucia had two assists in the Hornets’ game against Dalton last week, which Hackley won 4-2. She worked hard throughout the game as an outside midfielder. With composure and great skills, she generated many opportunities for her team by taking players on and defensively shutting down the opposition.

Football: JP Ngbokoli ’26

Senior captain JP had a great first game for the Hornets. In just over three quarters, he rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns to lead the team to a 31-14 victory.

Field Hockey: Maddie Edwards ’27

Maddie had a shutout in a 0-0 tie over St. Luke’s on Monday and had 12 saves in a very exciting game Wednesday in goal for the Hornets.

Boys’ Soccer: Nick Dimopoulos ’29

Nick, relatively new to soccer, has flourished so far this fall, starting in all three games and playing like a seasoned veteran.
