Athletes of the Week – Week of Oct. 6

Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.

Girls’ Soccer: Gemma Lasky ’27
Gemma has been skillfully dominating the midfield this season. In particular, she had five assists in the last two games, four of which came in the Hornets’ 6-0 win over Horace Mann for the Dave Allison Game. Gemma also has scored in the team’s last three games, bringing her season total to six goals and eight assists. Having four assists in one game is incredible! Whether it’s an outside-of-the-foot chip over the defense or a through-ball splitting the defense, Gemma finds a way to play the perfect ball to her teammates in the attacking third.

Boys’ Soccer: Shikhar Misra ’26
Shikhar played hard and challenged for 50/50 balls very well in the Hornets’ games against RCDS and Horace Mann. He also scored his first career goal in a 3-0 win against Rye Country Day.

Field Hockey: Emelia Pieri ’28
Emelia had two goals and four assists in the Hornets’ past three games. She is a powerhouse on the field, not just in the team’s offensive end of the field, but also defensively and in the midfield.

Cross Country: Henry Prescott ’26
At the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational, Henry delivered the fastest cross country race of his career. He smashed his previous 5K personal best by more than 30 seconds, clocking an impressive 16:20, an average pace of 5:15 per mile. This outstanding performance earned him 4th place overall out of 100 runners in the Boys’ Varsity D race.

Cross Country: Layan Sow ’27
Layan made a huge impact for the Hornets at the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational. She shaved an impressive 40 seconds off her previous 5K time from the Suffern Invitational, finishing with a stellar 22:18. Her performance earned her a spot in the Hornets’ top five and played a key role in helping Hackley secure 4th place overall in an incredibly competitive varsity race.

Football: Graham Klabin ’27
In a 36-12 win over Hopkins on Sept. 27, middle linebacker Graham tallied seven tackles and a pass breakup. Graham is the team’s leading tackler and captains one of the league’s top defenses, which has allowed just 36 points through five games.

Football: William Ngbokoli ’28
William rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yard score, in Hackley’s 36-0 win over Fieldston on Oct. 4. He also added an interception on defense as the Hornets improved to 5-0.
