A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

May 21 was a perfect day for a service learning trip as Ms. Maddox's Drama 5-3 students went to the Pre-K/4s class at Elizabeth Mascia Child Care Center to perform an adaptation of the book "Crazy Hair Day."
The visit included a reading of the book, an introduction of theatre vocabulary, a physical warm up and game that the Pre-K kids joined in on, and a performance of a stage adaptation of the book. While performers worked on their acting and presentation skills, the trip also supported literacy, social-emotional connections, character education and leadership.

A huge thanks to Elizabeth Mascia Child Care Center and Ms. Megan's class who hosted the performance, Mrs. Washington who inspired the idea, Dr. Rigby who co-chaperoned, Lower School Librarian Ms. McKay who suggested the book, and the Hackley Performing Arts and Middle School administration who helped make the trip happen!
