Hackley Varsity Softball 2019

The Hackley Softball Team made some history on the field this season, with accomplishment for the record books.
The team earned eight shut-outs this season. Dana Van Buren ’19 racked up  well over 700 strike-outs for her career, and threw two perfect games, winning her the Scholar Athlete award from Channel 12 News. Abbey Schiller ’21 led the team in batting average this season with a .558 average, and Gainsley Korengold ‘21, Mirabel Mallett ‘19, and Lauren Ahern ‘20 were not far behind. The team was awarded the number two seed in NYSAIS tournament and came in second in the Ivy Preparatory behind a very good Poly team. Three Hackley players,  Dana Van Buren, Lauren Ahern and Abbey Schiller, received first team All-Ivy honors, and Mirabel Mallett made the second team.

This team's biggest goal this season was to make it to the NYSAIS Championship--and they did! Despite the final loss to Poly (4-2) in the final round of the tournament, the team couldn’t be prouder. Go Hack!!!
