Hackley Varsity Baseball 2019

The Hackley Baseball Team worked very hard in the off and preseason this year, starting with Sunday workouts in January and the annual trip to Florida for pre-season training, and opened the season by winning three out of their first four games, highlighted by a walk-off bases loaded single in the bottom of the 7th against Dalton.
The team was just where they thought they would be at the halfway point of the season with a record of three wins and four losses, though struggled against strong pitching that silenced their bats and made for some tough defeats.  With a record of five wins and 10 losses, the team secured secure the # 8 seed in the NYSAIS tournament. The team was led offensively by senior and first team All-League player Jason Mark, who had a batting average of .488 and led the team in RBI’s with 21. Cody Eckert ’21 led the team on the mound with an ERA of 3.08 and senior, second team All-League, Peter Clyne was the leader in runs scored with 14. With a relatively young pitching crew led by Sophomore Alex Kalapoutis, who had the most inning pitched this season, the team looks primed to improve in the years to come.
