Taste Testing in Lower School

As part of our Lower School Nutrition program, each month we highlight a locally sourced, (usually) organic food. The purpose of the program is to get students excited about trying new healthy foods.
On Taste Test Day, Chef Andy Lasseter prepares and serves the highlighted food in three different recipes. Students who try at least two of the foods can then vote for their favorite, and the winner is featured in the menu a few days later and will become a regular addition to future menus as well. This month, we highlighted locally grown tomatoes. The taste test featured three tomato recipes- Yellow Tomato Soup, Parmesan Plum Tomatoes, and Mozzarella, Basil, and Yellow Tomato Salad.

The students in Class KK counted the votes, and the winner was Yellow Tomato Soup with 51 votes. Since the Mozzarella, Basil, and Yellow Tomato Salad was close behind with 48 votes, Chef Andy kindly offered to include both recipes in the coming days.
