Why did you pursue this project?
Hi, I’m Harper and I’m a sophomore in the Independent Research Program. I love wrestling and post punk music. 

I’ve always had a passion for biology and science in general. From poring over the pages of an encyclopedia of science to examining slides under a microscope, science has been a huge part of my early life. When I found out about IRP, I recognized immediately that it was a perfect opportunity for me to pursue a field of interest. 

As a queer person, I’ve often wondered about the reproductive options available to me and upon researching it, I discovered the process of in vitro gametogenesis, which could potentially allow same-sex couples to have biological children without gamete donation. It’s still in the early stages of lab research and far from implementation, but through ISRP I have an opportunity to contribute to it.
