Athletes of the Week - Week of May 8
Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.
Track and Field: Gabby Hogrefe ’24
Gabby has been on a great run for the track team recently. In addition to running distances between the 200m and 800m, Gabby has put together dominant performances in the triple jump, winning the event for Class C at the Somers Invitational this past weekend with a 30'1.5" jump. This mark qualified her for the upcoming NYSAIS championship. She also won the triple jump event at Ivy Developmental Meet No. 5 on Tuesday.
Girls’ Lacrosse: Welyn Waterhouse ’23
Welyn had six goals and three assists this week, including two goals and 10 draw controls that were integral in the Hornets’ victory against Holy Child. Welyn has been a powerhouse all over the field this season, dominating on the draw control and midfield play, as well as on the attack and defensive ends of the field. She has 20 goals, 12 assists, and 65 draw controls on the season to date.

Boys’ Golf: Daniel Zampolin ’23
Daniel shot a 77 at Fishers Island on Tuesday, scoring one of the lowest rounds in the tournament. He also had two very important head-to-head wins to secure victories for the Hornets in the last seven days.
