Junior Class: Community Service Silent Auction

Lindsay Room
Please Join the Class of 2016 in Supporting its Community Service Project
I am writing on behalf of the Class of 2016 to invite you to our silent auction on Wednesday, May 20th, 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM in the Lindsay Room.
This auction is to raise money to benefit the Edenwald-Pleasantville Community Cottage School, as part of the 11th Grade Community Service Project.
Edenwald Pleasantville Community Cottage School is a residential school for children, ages 7-21, who are placed by NYC Children Services when they can't be placed in Foster Care or live at home. The school provides a safe, supervised and nurturing setting where the students receive education, medical care, and skills training, with the goal of reuniting them with a family member when possible, and helping them go to college or learn a trade or skill that enables them to live independently.
Members of Hackley’s 11th grade have been visiting Cottage residents once a month. A typical visit begins with breakfast, and then students work together on art projects and talked about shared interests. Hackley’s students report that they “quickly realized that despite the circumstances they were born into, we have a lot in common” – from TV shows and movies to sports teams and music. The experience has been truly rewarding experience for the class.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Cottage School. We are grateful to the many parents, students and teachers who have donated items to the auction – some highlights include:
1. Two hours of of lacrosse lessons with Sammy Mueller and Nick Gutfleish
2. A candlelit dinner (accompanied by violin) by Spiro Coffinas and James Hjerpe
3. Brownies on your birthday baked by Jason Traum
4. An ice cream outing for three to Main Street Sweets with Ms. Leffler
5. Two tickets to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
6. Premium tickets to a Yankees Game
…as well as original student artwork, student-made jewelry and babysitting and more.
The Class of 2016 looks forward to a very successful auction and appreciates your support! Stop by and place your bids -- the auction will be open all day!
