La Ropa Tradicional - Traditional Clothing

Fifth grade Spanish students are studying items of clothing, as well as colors, prices and places where people can buy clothing. Whether at a local market, a shop, in the mall or on the web, peoples of all traditions buy items of clothing. Read on.

Many people continue using traditional items of clothing, sometimes for special events and sometimes for daily life.

In the spirit of learning more about how people dress, students were challenged to research a traditional item of clothing.  Students needed to express what they had learned about the item, from a brief description of the item to its colors, the occasions when it is worn, the price and the places where you can purchase it. And yes, it had to be in Spanish!

The fifth grader class surprised their teacher with a wide range of traditional garbs from around the globe. Clothing from Asia, Africa, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East appear in this assignment. Some students decided to write about items of clothing related to their ancestry, demonstrating pride in their cultural heritage while others decided to investigate clothing of other cultures. Most importantly, all of these items captured their imagination.
