Hackley Chinese Language teacher Roy Sheldon was profiled in a Columbia University Teachers College Special Report on “Retooling the Classroom for 21st Century Teaching” as part of a discussion of Teachers Colleges Teaching of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) certificate program.
Hackley Chinese Language teacher Roy Sheldon was profiled in a Columbia University Teachers College Special Report on “Retooling the Classroom for 21st Century Teaching” as part of a discussion of Teachers Colleges Teaching of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) certificate program. Roy’s work as an executive for a multinational corporation in China for 11 years encouraged him to pursue a second career in teaching, which brought him to Hackley. In the profile, Roy remarks, “If you understand the language, you can get a deeper understanding of what the culture is all about and have the ability to work more effectively and collaboratively with your counterparts outside of the United States, no matter what career is chosen by the student.”
