Hackley's team competed in the NY State High School Mock Trial tournament for the second week in a row on March 8th, despite the fact that students had exams!
The case this year involved prosecuting and defending an assault case involving inflammatory rap lyrics and circumstantial evidence surrounding witness identification of the alleged assailant in The People of the State of NY vs,. P.J. Long.
The students on this year's Mock Trial Team (from left to right in the photo) were Phebe DuPont, Camille Schmidt, Joey Gutfleish, Sarah Rossman, Jeffrey Guzman, Coach Steve Fitzpatrick, Amelia Dobronyi, and co-coach Rita Tino, Esq. (Hackley Student Aley Longo's mother).
A special thanks should also go out to Rebkha Michael and 8th grader George Wangensteen who filled in as witnesses during the first trial which took place the night before the first exam!
The students did a fabulous job especially considering they had to prepare in the midst of exam period.
