Sam Freccia, Associate Director of College Counseling
Sam Freccia received his undergraduate degree from a small liberal arts college in Central New York, where he majored in geology.
Upon graduation, Sam worked a brief stint in the admissions office of his alma mater before moving to Maine to begin working as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Colby College. There, Sam managed the selection process for their Presidential Scholars program, hired and trained their senior admissions interns, and coordinated recruitment and application review for prospective students in the Pacific Northwest and select areas in the Northeast (including Hackley!).
While he loved his time in admissions, his favorite part of the job was the personal interactions he had with high school students, which drove him to switch to the college counseling side of the admissions process. After two years at Colby, Sam moved to Seattle, WA to join the college counseling team at Lakeside School, where he ultimately served as Associate Director of College Counseling. During his six years at Lakeside, he loved being immersed in the close-knit, independent school community, and knew that his career would continue in schools. He spent two summers living in Honolulu, HI pursuing his Master of Education degree with a focus on Private School Leadership at a medium-sized research institution. Originally from the Northeast, Sam is immensely excited to return closer to home and join the Hackley community this year! He and his wife live in Stamford, CT.
