Great Start to the Year in Debate
On the first weekend of the 2017-18 academic year, Hackley US Debate started its season by attending two separate Public Forum tournaments. Read on for details.
Philip Bonanno, Alex Evangelidis, Matt Fisch, Max Mallett, Frances Schaeffler, and Tucker Wilke traveled to Kentucky to compete against the top teams in the nation. Philip and Tucker advanced to the Quarterfinals round and thus partially qualified to the national championship tournament in April!
In NY, Max Rosenblum, Neil Singh, Jared Tilliss, and Madeline Zuckerman participated in a local tournament. Max and Madeline reached the Octafinals round while Neil and Jared made it to the Quarterfinal round. All in all, the program had a fantastic start to its year and looks forward to the rest of the season!
Hackley Debate has two upcoming events – a Parli debate at Greenwich HS on September 23rd and a novice Public Forum tournament on September 30th. Interested debaters should contact Mr. Gilbert or Mr. Fitzpatrick!
