Athletes of the Week, 10/9

Caroline Stevenson ’18, Matt Braver ’19, Sophia Thomas ’21, and Sam Goldberg ’18 earned Athlete of the Week honors for the week of October 9 in recognition of outstanding performances with their respective teams. Read on for details.
Caroline Stevenson ’18 placed 13th overall in an extremely competitive field last weekend at the Brewster Invitational cross-country meet. Caroline placed first for the Hackley girls with a time of 20:18, a blistering 6:33 pace per mile. Due to a heavy training load over the summer and complete dedication to her training this fall, Caroline is approaching the NYSAIS Championships as one of the top ranked private school runners in the state.

Varsity Boys Soccer standout Matt Braver ’19 in the past three games scored a hat trick in a 3-0 win over Fieldston, a goal and an assist versus Dalton in a 2-1 win and most recently scored the only goal in overtime to bring home the victory against Collegiate School on the road. Matt has nine goals and four assists on the season.

Varsity Girls Soccer player Sophia Thomas ’21 had a dominating performance against Fieldston this past week. She had a hand in all three Hackley goals in the 3-0 win over Fieldston. Sophia scored a goal and assisted on two others in the victory.

Varsity Football player Sam Goldberg ’18 led the team in tackles as well as QB sacks this past weekend in a resounding victory over Montclair Kimberely Academy. The 37-0 win was the most decisive victory in league play. According to Coach Berk, Sam was been completely dominant in every facet of the game.
