Fall Season Update: Football

After a slow season start the team rallied behind the senior leadership of captains Javon Coleman, Sam Goldberg, Mike Hoffman, Chad Lasseter, and Will Waterhouse to go undefeated in October and win a second, consecutive Metropolitan Independent Football League championship.
It was a tale of two months -- in September, the Hornets compiled a 2-2 record in September and were winless in league play.  But October was a different story. The Hornets relied on an explosive running game and dominant defense. Will Waterhouse broke the single season rushing record at Hackley racking up 1271 yards and Javon Coleman rushed for another 1004 yards, making Coleman 5th on the single season list.

Rushing records can only be broken behind a full team effort led by the offensive line and supplemented by the backs and receivers. Defensively, the Hornets were able to continually control the game and force turnovers. Hackley football secured the league championship this season with a convincing 38-24 win over previously undefeated Fieldston in the last game of the season.
