Fall Season Update: Girls Soccer
The 2017 motto for HGVS was "It Aint' Over, Til It's Over." That motto rang true in every game this season as numerous games were decided by either a single goal or came down to the wire. Their heart and determination to win was evident when the team came from behind to defeat the defending NYSAIS champion in overtime with a score of 3-2.
Other highlights include shutting out Scarsdale High School 5-0, defeating Riverdale in a close battle 2-1, shutting out Fieldston 3-0, scoring three goals in fifteen minutes against defending NYSAIS champion Horace Mann, and defeating Fieldston 2-1 on Senior Night. HGVS finished the season with a 5-8-1 record.
The team was led by 1st Team All-Ivy selection Lilianna Khosrowshahi ’18 who had 16 points on the season, including 52 saves at keeper. In addition, Isabelle Thomas ’19 received 2nd Team All-Ivy recognition for her outstanding defensive play. Carolyn Santangelo ’18 and Sophia Thomas ’21 rounded out the scoring for the Hornets this season with 14 points each.
