Hackley 6th Grader Performs for The St. Thomas Orchestra

As part of the Strategic Plan initiative to Elevate the Arts by Promoting the Hilltop as a Learning Hub, The St. Thomas Orchestra, which began rehearsing at Hackley in February, has continued to meet via zoom in order to maintain their sense of community.

Each Sunday evening since the lockdown began, the orchestra has gathered for an evening of musical performance, discussion and camaraderie. St. Thomas and Hackley were just at the beginning of a partnership to promote broader community engagement and a commitment to musical excellence on the Hilltop.

St. Thomas's partnership with Hackley was reinforced on Sunday, April 26th when Hackley student, Mason Lee, performed for the members of the orchestra via Zoom. His viola teacher, Monica Gerard, is principle viola with St. Thomas. Mason played Rachmaninoff Vocalise for viola and piano. Ms Gerard is preparing Mason to audition for a pre-college music program and this performance aided his preparations. This musical gathering gave everyone a chance to share in the Mason's accomplishment and artistry.
