Security Guard

Reporting directly to the Director of Buildings and Grounds, the primary role of the Security Guard is to ensure the safety and security of the Hackley property and maintain a safe educational and living environment for all community members and guests.

With an emphasis on customer service and strengthening community relations to further the mission of the School, Security Guards are committed to serving a diverse school community and are tasked with identifying, assessing, and responding to potential hazards and safety-related incidents.Security Guards should expect to work a shift schedule that, along with weekends and/or holidays when necessary. 

Applicants should be CPR/First Aid/AED certified or be willing to become certified upon employment (at no cost to the employee). Candidates must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and pass a motor vehicle record check.

In accordance with the policies of Hackley School, candidates for this position must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and a booster shot, if eligible. 
 
Primary Schedule: Overnight Shift (11:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., Sunday to Thursday)
Pay Rate: $15.90 - $16.50/hr

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct vigilant patrols of School property both in vehicle and on foot.
  • Patrol campus parking lots to identify unauthorized or suspicious vehicles.
  • Assess emergency situations and notify campus personnel, police, fire and EMS, when appropriate.
  • Inspects all campus buildings, doors, gates, windows, and other access points to the Hackley campus for the protection of the community and its assets and to ensure unauthorized persons are not able to gain entry. 
  • Inspects emergency equipment, fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and exit signs on a regular basis to ensure operational readiness and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist the faculty and administration in enforcing and identifying violations of safety rules and policies. 
  • Maintain a thorough daily log of activities and assorted reports for each assigned shift.
  • Assist with traffic control at key points of the day and during special events as needed.
  • Represent Hackley by providing professional and courteous assistance when responding to requests for service, interacting with members of the community, or assisting guests and visitors.
  • Notify key personnel of major incidents or emergencies on campus in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate discretion and decorum in communication and maintain confidentiality with unquestionable integrity. 
  • Interact with students, colleagues, consultants and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner
