Seventh Grade Pixel Art Designs Bring Tech Company CEO to the Hilltop

Seventh graders have been developing their skills in computational thinking and Python using the web-based imagi tool. They applied their coding skills to create and express their own interests in the form of pixel art. Projects included animated sports jerseys, marquee signs, the cast of The Muppets, rainbow designs and more. By participating in the imagiLabs challenge, students were able to share their projects with a larger educational community.

During her visit to the Hilltop, Ms. Palfi, who is based in Stockholm, spoke with the seventh graders about their pixel art designs, asking where they got their inspiration and how they collaborated to create their pieces. Fifth and sixth grade computer science students also were invited to meet with her.

“It was a really rewarding experience to meet the students behind some of the amazing coding artwork we have seen, and they also had really valuable feedback,” Ms. Palfi noted.

Ms. Palfi then spent time with Girls Who Code club members and Upper School female-identifying computer science students to discuss her journey studying and working in computer science. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to hear firsthand real-life applications of computer science.
