Athletes of the Week – Week of Feb. 19

Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.

Swimming: Ella Chen ’26
At Ivy Championships, Ella won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke with a school record of 1:06.46. She was also a member of the 400 freestyle relay, which took first, and the 200 medley relay, which took second while setting the school record with a time of 1:52.68.

Indoor Track & Field: Jimmy Mulosmani ’25
Jimmy had a big night competing in the shot put at the NYSAIS Indoor Championships last Wednesday. Against a very competitive field, he threw a lifetime best distance of 35-4.75 to secure a bronze medal (out of 17 total competitors). He has had a steady progression of improving results all season, culminating with this personal best when it really counted!

Indoor Track & Field: Ari Spiegel ’26
Ari had an impressive night in the weight throw competition at the NYSAIS Indoor Championship meet. With a throw of 26-7.25, Ari finished third out of 11 competitors and took home the bronze medal. This throw was a whopping seven feet further than Aris personal best at the beginning of the season — proof that hard work and dedication truly pay off!

Indoor Track & Field: Henry Prescott ’26
Henry had the run of his life last Wednesday, competing in the 1600m at the NYSAIS Indoor Championships. Having only broken the elusive five-minute barrier one week prior, Henry dropped an incredible six seconds, finishing in 4:53.07 and taking 13th place out of 30 competitors. Given the incredible improvements he has made this season, we can't wait to see what Henry will do this spring in the outdoor track and field season!
