Part-Time Lower School Adjunct/Floater Teacher

Hackley Lower School, a K-4 division serving 205 students on a 285 acre campus, seeks a Part-Time Lower School Adjunct/Floater Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The Hackley Lower School Adjunct/Floater Teacher reports to the Director of the Lower School. 

The Adjunct/Floater Teacher will serve as an in-house substitute teacher and playground/lunch aide, whose responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: supporting homeroom and specialist classes (e.g. science, art), and supervision during recess and lunch periods. This position may also include educational clerical duties, such as creation of bulletin boards or preparing materials for lesson plans.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree required / Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience working with elementary school aged children
  • Ability to work four hours per day; some flexibility available

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in elementary education

  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures, keeping students safe at all times

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing support to classroom teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating learning educational environment, including working with large and small groups of students as required
  • Communicating issues to the Director in a timely fashion
  • Supervision of various lunch and recess periods throughout the day
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Salary Information:
This position is a full year, 20 hour per week position - 4 hours per day when school is in session. The role is paid at a rate of $25 per hour. Hours to be agreed upon by candidate and Division Director. Lunch provided daily.
